Did you hear? We launched the first design in our new aluminum hummingbird feeders line! We’ve been wanting to add silver feeders to our shop for a long time, but struggled to find a durable silvery material. Covering the copper with a colored coating didn’t work well, either. So, we are THRILLED to have just found a special, solid aluminum wire that is the perfect fit!
Keep reading to find out more about the fantastic qualities of these new feeders:
1) Lightweight & Durable
Aluminum is lightweight but TOUGH. A metal commonly used in outdoor settings, these aluminum feeders feature a strong frame that will hold up in rough weather elements.
This is probably our favorite feature! The electro-polished surface of the pure aluminum wire that we use protects against rust or change of appearance. This is the main difference from our copper feeders; although some people like the natural patina of the copper, others don’t prefer it. Our new aluminum hummingbird feeders should provide you with a lifetime shine, no special polishing needed!
3) Modern Aesthetic
The aluminum material brings a fresh, silver/chrome look to our collection, adding a new color option! We’re excited to have found a simple and sustainable way to add a new color, without the extra steps and energy that would be required if we went a color coating route.
4) Easily Recyclable
We have always loved the simplicity of “ingredients” in our feeders, with copper being a valued material in the recycling world. We’re thrilled that aluminum also scores big in this area, as it is one of the easiest metals to recycle (here’s another great article on metal recycling)! While your feeder should last a very long time, you can make your purchase with confidence, knowing that it can be repurposed one day, instead of taking up space in a landfill.
We hope you love these silvery, new aluminum hummingbird feeders as much as we do! As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to do so. Please let us know if you have any questions, and also…stay tuned for some wholesale options, now that we have the non-tarnishing feature available!
